Dr. Graham Theisen (Tyson) is thrilled to return to Charleston to take care of patients living in, and around, his favorite city in the world. Dr. Theisen earned his Master of Science in Clinical Research and his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he fell in love with both the incredible city of Charleston and his future husband. He completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and then pursued a Women’s Reproductive Research Fellowship in Reproductive Genetics, along with his REI fellowship, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
In his free time, Dr. Theisen enjoys spending weekends by the ocean with his husband, chasing their toddler and two French bulldogs around the beach. He is also an avid audiobook listener with a long-standing love for sci-fi and fantasy novels, finding it the most relaxing to combine an hour of an audiobook with a nice run outside.
Dr. Theisen’s journey into REI began as a patient himself. His son was born after a three-year fertility journey, giving Dr. Theisen firsthand experience with both the challenges and the joys that come with fertility treatment. This personal history drives his compassionate approach to patient care, and today, he takes that history with him into every patient encounter, striving to provide empathy, kindness, and understanding throughout the family-building process. He believes that each patient has the right to the all information they need to make the best decisions for themselves, and to that end, he does everything he can to ensure that those he works with are not just patients, but also partners on the road to building a family.
Dr. Theisen’s clinical interests include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, fertility preservation (egg freezing), and LGBTQ family building utilizing sperm/egg donors as well as gestational surrogacy.
