With more than two decades of postgraduate and professional experience in embryology, Dr. Chen’s exceptional journey in the field of science and reproductive medicine has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a profound commitment to advancing knowledge. With a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology, her quest for knowledge and dedication to excellence led her to becoming a postdoctoral scholar at UCSF, one of the most prestigious reproductive medicine programs in the world.
Dr. Chen’s curiosity and commitment to advancing the frontiers of science led her to undertake groundbreaking research aimed at unraveling the entire genome-wide changes occurring during egg maturation. Her work was published in Genes & Development, a journal of distinction in the field of molecular biology and genetics. Her exceptional contribution was rated as a “Must Read.” from the Faculty of 1000 Post-Publication Peer Review program. Dr. Chen’s research journey continued with a major publication in Nature Cell Biology, one of the foremost scientific journals. Her pioneering study explored maternal mRNA translation and its impact on the developmental competence of mouse eggs, contributing significantly to our foundational understanding of mammalian egg competency. Building on the insights from this research, another significant paper was later published in Nature Communications, a journal for cutting-edge research. These publications are remarkable accomplishments that reflect Dr. Chen’s dedication, expertise, and contribution to the world of science and research.
Driven by a profound desire to make a difference, Dr. Chen chose to apply her talents in a clinical setting to help those struggling with infertility have the family they’ve longed for. Prior to joining PREG, Dr. Chen served as Laboratory Director for Santa Monica Fertility, where she played a pivotal role in elevating the program to become one of the most renowned and respected egg banks, Pinnacle Egg Bank, in the country.
We are honored to have Dr. Chen as an integral part of the PREG team. In her role as PREG’s Laboratory Director, Dr. Chen oversees each of our three IVF labs ensuring they meet the highest possible standards in quality control, accuracy and safety, and provides our embryology team with expert training and invaluable mentorship. Dr. Chen’s hands-on approach empowers her embryology team to deliver the highest standard of care and achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Beyond Dr. Chen’s role as a board-certified, high complex laboratory director, and her extensive professional achievements, Dr. Chen’s heart is also deeply connected to nature and animals. In her spare time, she has devoted herself to volunteering in animal shelters, dedicating years to training and socializing cats and dogs. She finds solace and inspiration in hiking and is currently building a home library. Her love for culinary arts and creativity extends to crafting handmade soap from scratch. Dr. Chen cherishes every moment spent with her two young children and a German shepherd puppy, cherishing the bonds of family and the wonders of the natural world.
